Recreational Canoe and Kayak Clinic

The Ozark Mountain Paddlers host a number of Recreational Canoe and Kayak Clinics in the summer.  They are all-day, on-the-water clinics geared toward those interested in learning or honing their skills for safely and successfully navigating the rivers of the Ozarks.

Topics covered include:

  • Appropriate gear, boats and clothes
  • Shuttle basics
  • Safety practices including common hazards and how to deal with them
  • Boat control for both bow and stern paddlers
  • River reading basics

Clinics are open to canoe and kayak paddlers in both tandem and solo boats, and will be held on a local stretch of river (check the website home page for clinic dates and locations).

Participants should be comfortable in and around water, have basic gear, including boat and pfd (life jacket).  You will need to provide your own lunch.
