Christmas Float, December 23/24, 2006

The Christmas float this year was held on December 23 & 24th on the beautiful 11 point river. We put in at Whitten access and floated to Riverton, with an overnight stop at Boze Mill campground. There was a small, but quality group this year: Mike and Jeanne Simpson, Juan Forkner, Ed McClung, Darrell Jones, Heather Hoggard and Duane Shuey. The water was high and very nice for floating - we hardly had to paddle at all! We saw a couple of fishermen, but otherwise the river was all ours, as was the campground that night. It was a clear, cold night - it even froze the eggnog. On Christmas Eve morning, Santa showed up (with curly blonde hair - can you imagine?) with gifts for everyone. At the takeout, we went our separate ways, headed back home to be with our families on Christmas Eve. What a wonderful way to start the holidays!
