February Members Meeting!

by Ozark Mountain Paddlers on January 21, 2023

Our guest speaker for the Thursday, February 9th meeting will be Brooke Widmar, the Education Outreach Coordinator for the James River Basin Partnership. Brooke will be presenting her program “Explore the Shore” which explores the flora and fauna to be found along the James River. This should be especially interesting since our previous club float was on the lower James River from Kerr to Galena.

The meeting is at 6:00pm, Thursday, Feb 9th at the Springfield Nature Center.

About Brooke:

Brooke Widmar grew up in Ozark, Missouri, and has always been passionate about the great outdoors thanks to scout family float trips and campouts. Attending a JRBP watershed festival in the 5th grade sparked an interest in water quality, which was further kindled by starting a Missouri Stream Team in high school and attending the Green Leadership Academy for Diverse Ecosystems (GLADE). Her conservation career has included working for Stream Teams United, The Nature Conservancy of Missouri, and most recently the Missouri Prairie Foundation. Brooke is a graduate of Missouri State University (Go Bears!) earning a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation and Management with a certificate in Environmental Education.
