Kayak and SUP Fun Day at the Lake!

by Ozark Mountain Paddlers on August 31, 2020

Join us for an afternoon of fun at the lake with the opportunity to learn about and try out stand up paddle boards (SUP’s). You will also be able to try out a variety of member’s different styles of kayaks, and end the day with a mid-afternoon cookout to be enjoyed by all! We will be meeting at the covered pavilion at the Old 86 campground on Table Rock Lake on September 19th starting at 12:00PM.

At 1:00PM, we will have a short presentation from the Ozark Water Walkers stand up paddle board group describing the different types of paddle boards, how to get started and basic techniques, and providing tips on getting more out of your SUP adventures. We will then have several SUP’s and a multitude of different sit-in and sit-on-top kayaks for people to try out in the protected cove of the campground. We will have a cookout early in the afternoon with the club supplying all of the food and beverages. If you have ever wanted to try out a SUP, check out the speed and gracefulness of a 16 ft flat water kayak, or maybe try paddling a short 5-6 ft whitewater playboat, this is the opportunity to do so. We encourage members to bring their own boats and gear as well, as it is a lovely beach and protected cove area for all to get out and relax.

Due to the focus of this event being learning new things about SUP’s and various types of kayaks we are opening this up to friends and family members of current club members. If you have close friends or family members that have been wanting to learn about SUP’s or try out different styles of kayaks you are welcome to invite them to the session. With this is mind it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL THAT EVERYONE RSVP’S that is planning on attending. That is the only way we can ensure we have adequate food and beverages for everyone.

Please RSVP to Gary Tombridge at 417-861-6056 as soon as possible (leave a message),  no later then Wednesday Sept. 16th. Social distancing will be required at all times and while masks aren’t mandatory, they are suggested and will be available for those that don’t bring their own.
