Level 4 Whitewater Canoe Instructor Certification!

Level 4 Whitewater Canoe Instructor Certification Exam in Spring of 2020. The course will be held on the Cossatot River in Arkansas.

• March 13-15th (Instructor Development Workshop)
• April 10-12th (Instructor Certification Exam)

The course is listed as a 40 hour course to become an instructor. Prior to the course each candidate will receive 3-4 teaching topics. During first weekend (IDW) is where the new instructor candidates come to the course and learn from current instructors. During this time they will observe the ACA (American Canoe Association) teaching methods and what is expected of them. They will then have a few weeks prior to the Instructor Certification weekend (ICE) to prepare and ask question associated with their assignments. During the ICE candidates will teach their assigned topics and will be given 2-3 impromptu topics as well as critique other instructor candidates. At the end of this weekend each candidate will evaluated as to what level of certification they will receive. The cost of the course is $500.00 per person based on a minimum of 10 people. (OMP will pay half for members interested in getting certified)
